Meeting Notice

The Iowa Association of Railroad Passengers (IARP) will meet at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2006, at the meeting room of the Sirloin Stockade, 2645 Northgate Avenue, Ottumwa, Iowa.

The IARP meeting will include updates on the future of Amtrak's long distance trains and Iowa's participation in a Midwest Regional Rail System. IARP President Pat Hendricks will report on his recent trip to a national meeting of rail advocates.

The meeting is free, open to the public and anyone with an interest in passenger rail is invited to attend.

An informal lunch be held at the restaurant beginning at about 11:30 a.m.

Ottumwa is one of six cities in Iowa which have Amtrak stops.

Following the lunch and meeting, attendees may make their way to the Wapello County Historical Museum, on the second floor of the Amtrak Depot, 210 West Main Street, Ottumwa, to tour the museum. Admission is $2.00. The museum will be open until 4:00 p.m.

The California Zephyr Amtrak trains are scheduled to depart eastbound from Ottumwa at 9:39 a.m. and westbound from Ottumwa at 6:43 p.m. each day.
